Mid-90s New York City. Patty, Angela, Emma, and Nikki are high school seniors and best friends preparing for life after graduation. Their dreams for the future are very different—Angela wants to be a poet, Emma and Nicky are going to college, and Patty is a young mother looking for stability in her child’s life, but she also has four bright, young children. The women are fiercely loyal to each other in the way only teenagers can be. Their lives are cut short when Nikki unexpectedly commits suicide after being sexually assaulted. Grief-stricken, angry, and forced to return to everyday life without fulfilling their feelings, the girls must reconcile the patriarchal world in which they live.
